Gianluca
![]()
Our only full-blooded Italian, he actually hemmed and hawed at the beginning, saying he wasn’t sure if he knew how to cook. A few years later, we often attack his food before guests ever even see it, only leaving traces of his wonderful creations. It’s very rare that a Gianluca experiment goes awry, but when it does, he can be seen on the phone with Mamma, who is always available to steer him out of a culinary mess.
Laura
![]()
1/2 Italian and 1/2 German, Laura is like a cyclone of energy - with a free index finger she could whip up a cheesecake, and will often leave little marks of her having been up at night in the kitchen with things like homemade nutella, oatmeal raisin cookies, or a gorgonzola and pear pie that could bring you to your knees.
Carol Ann
![]()
When Carol Ann came to interview she brought little apple turnovers and homemade seitan. I thought to myself, “Do I really have to interview anyone else?”
After a month we almost lost her to the evil clutches of the film industry, but after a vicious battle, we were happily triumphant.
Giulia
![]()
Having begun her waitressing career at 6 years old, Giulia already has a good start as an heir to the Beehive empire. Naturally happy and warm to everyone, her punishment when she is rarely naughty is that she can’t come to work.
Steve
![]()
Unfortunately only on as backup help, Steve and his wife Linda are the owners of the hotel and cafe, and will gladly pass up a night out elsewhere for a meal here (space permitting).
Paloma
Despite the limitations of Paloma’s diet (she basically eats nothing but pasta with a little oil and parmigiano), she loves to help in the kitchen and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. She’s also the newest addition to our part time wait staff, and at 6 years old she’s quite impressive too. A bit shy, I keep having to convince her that people aren’t laughing at her - rather, they’ve just never been served so professionally by someone so young and adorable before!
